CANNONS RECORD FIRST WIN OF SEASON

Friday night saw Cannons record their first win of the season, in a game come battle against Bury Bulldogs at Clacton Leisure Centre.

The game was very well supported, by around 40 people. all players and coaching staff would like to extend their thanks to all that came, and enjoy competition in the best atmosphere in the league. No where in the Suffolk Senior League compares to playing in Clacton!!

Cannons put in a great performance at both ends of the floor. Working tirelessly on defence and played an impressive and disciplined full court trap intermittently throughout the game. Their defensive efforts were rewarded with many uncontested scores on offence, the final score of 63 - 36 really reflected the balance that Cannons found in the game.

Onwards and upwards with Cannons looking to build on this result and performance by picking up another win in their next game taking place in Ipswich on Tuesday 27th October.

TOUGH GAME AGAINST LEAGUE FAVOUROITES

Cannons faced a tough game against one of the championship favourites in their opening league game of the season, away to Colchester Bulls. The young Cannons team, featuring only 3 players over the age of 18, rose to the challenge and impressed their coaches and fans a like. Coach Chris Tight told players that even he "did not expect a performance of that quality".

Riley Taylor put in a solid performance for Cannons; handling the ball well, scoring 11 and assisting in excess of ten baskets for his team. Daniel Hammett also put in a shift, securing rebounds and finishing close to the basket on many occasions, especially in the second half.

The Bulls were strong and used their bench well, balancing experience and youth. Many Bulls players showed an ability to shoot threes or long twos, thus was what ultimately won them the game. They hit six three pointers throughout the game, and really put the Cannons defence under pressure during the opening five minutes of the third period, The Bulls won the third period 25-11.

Cannons did ultimately finish second best in this game, losing by 12 points, however they out scored their opponents by 11 points (19-8) and did not concede a basket in the last four minutes, in the final period, showing that they stayed dedicated to the cause right until the last.

Cannons' will be itching to go again, and you can next see catch them in action away to the Cossacks at Brightlingsea Sports Centre on 12th October 2016, 20:15. The Cannons will play their first home game of the season, at Clacton Leisure Centre on Friday 21st October 2016, a 19:50 tip off against Bury Bulldogs.
