Mayflower Mavericks 6 - 0 Holland Haven Heat
The
Cannons KS2 Basketball League is gradually expanding across the district. This
month it ran at both Clacton County High School and Harwich And Dovercourt High
School. Seven primary schools comprising of children in years 4, 5 and 6
competed across both tournaments to try and move their way up the league
table.
St
Osyth Scorpions retained top spot after another convincing set of performances
at the Clacton competition. Scorpions beat Holland Park Panthers, Alton Park
All-Stars and Holland Haven Heat en-route to registering a 100% record this
month. The Panthers and All-Stars both registered a couple of victories in this
tournament which shows signs of the development they are making. The Heat
failed to win this month, however the performance levels were high and a few
baskets they scored were amongst some if the highlights of the tournament. They
showed great togetherness and teamwork as they defended tirelessly and
worked the ball up the court quickly in order to create scoring chances.
Over
at the Harwich event a late withdrawal saw just the one game take place,
however this was definitely a case of saving the best until last. Mayflower
Mavericks took on Two Village Titans. The Mavs raced into a large lead, however
The Titans grew in confidence throughout the game and finished the game very
strong, The Mavs held on to win by 6 (36-30) but had the game been a couple of
minutes longer the result could have been different.
The
Cannons KS2 Basketball League is developed and run by Cannons Basketball Club,
and it is supported fantastically by the PE departments and students at the
high schools that host the tournaments.
Cannons
Basketball Club would like to thank schools, parents and our local sponsors
for their fantastic, continuous, support of the KS2 Basketball
League.
