CANNONS UNDER 11's WIN 2 OUT OF 3
On Sunday Clacton Cannons U11's played their monthly Junior Central Venue League
Matches. They had a slow start in the first match against Cambridge Cats
however, they exploded into life in their second game against Herts Royal's, showing team
spirit and togetherness beyond their years to come back from behind and send
the game into overtime.
During the over time period Cannons scored 8 points without reply; Jenson Edwards leading the scoring and making some excellent rebounds. Toby Young assisted with some fast break scores which lead to Cannons winning the game.
Cannons 3rd game was the highest scoring and the most exciting. The game was in balance right to the final whistle. During the game we saw Daniel Vale bringing the ball up the court with confidence, starting off the cannons offence. Kees Levine was hustling for every loose ball and scoring some important baskets. Luke Willis was knocking down shots and getting some great rebounds, both Faith Pepper and Jack Cherry worked hard to continuously get up and down the court throughout the game. Within the final minute Cannons had the lead by 2 points, they then losing by 1 point after a 3 pointer from Leopards Black and then there was a quick inbound pass from Daniel Vale to Jenson Edwards who attacked hard down the wing to score with a shot under extreme pressure to send the cannons back into a 1 point lead with still enough time for Leopards Black to get the ball down the court which saw a finger tip block from Jenson Edward only to see the ball fall to a leopards player under the basket ready to shoot but with every Cannons player putting him under pressure the ball just missed as the buzzer went for the game to end in a 31-30 victory for Cannons.
Coach Chris Tight was so proud of all the players and the overall team spirit. It was nice to have the parents support it was a real privilege.
